Just how slow and unexciting is the news now?

Earlier tonight there was a 5.2 earthquake near Gilmore, CA. It lasted 10 seconds, there were no aftershocks. But apparently the news has been so slow and unexciting as of late that every news station in California felt that it needed to do some 2 hour "Breaking News" story on it.

They had people calling in from all over that area saying how the ground was shaking. They spent over 30 mins talking to one woman who was at a basket ball game and how she "Felt the arena shaking for 10 seconds". I think pretty much everyone with a central nervous system and common sence knows that an earthquake shakes the ground.

This thing was so weak and so minor that it broke maybe 5 windows at the most and an old womans China bowl set.

10 or 15 mins on this thing would have been fine, but 2 hours is rediculous. I didnt even feel the damn thing and I live close to that area.

At least it wasn't a 2 hr. "Breaking News" that ppl in the mid-east still hate each other.

Or a news report that cuts into programs every 10 minutes or so for 2 hours to pretty much say "OH my GOD! IT's RAINING! IT's RAINING SO HARD! THERE MIGHT BE A THUNDERSTORM, or maybe even a TORNADO, and if you're in the path, YOUR"RE SCREWED! Everyone take shelter immediately, but make sure you can still see your TV and keep it on this channel!"

That seems to happen every time the weather's remotely bad 'round here..

lol.........

or "Flood warnings out for Boone, Cole, Callaway, Gasconade, Franklin...."

Justin is a miseryite also?

Kewls.

I remember that from St. Louis. Whenever there was a thunderstorm during the spring or summer months, the weather reporters decided not to take their ritalin, and went nuts with the "we interrupt this program for" garbage.

Gah!

yep, weather peepz go nuts in tornado season. every little storm cell is cause for discussion.

Skyhn, I was watchin the SJ Colorado hockey game and Pang and Levy both said that the commentary booth was shaking. Later on they found out that it was that 5.2 quake.

Thats funny that they spent 2 hours on it on the news. During the game, they spent less than 15 seconds on it
