I have diablo 2 and the expansion. I have installed the original and would like to install the expansion. the expansion disc is a little scratched up, and when it gets about half way through the install process, my computer locks up and i have to shut it down. i am running windows 2000 and my cdrw drive is ATAPI CD-R/RW 24X10. I would like to know if i can slow down the speed that the disc reads so that it can successfully install the game.

Only thing that i can tell you...im not sure if this will work, but i know it has something to do in that genre...t hold alt and double click on my computer...go to device manager, then CD ROMS....click on the Drive you are using, then uncheck the 'DMA', reboot and then try it

If your install disk is horribly scratched, you have 2 opt.s. First, return the scratched disk for a new one. Or second, spend a few $ for a game doctor (I think that's what they're called). It repairs scratched disks, and are available at Electronics Boutique.
