Napster has apparently fell under after struggling for over a year with copyright protection issues:
Napster founder Shawn Fanning quit the revolutionary online file-swapping service he created in his Boston dorm room in a mass exodus Tuesday that almost certainly signals the end for the once-feisty music service.
Fanning, Chief Executive Konrad Hilbers and three other senior executives resigned after infighting on the board led to the collapse of negotiations between Napster and German media conglomerate Bertelsmann.
The Napster site is also no longer accessible. It's hard to say if the RIAA has really gained anything from this, but i'm sure they feel very good right now...read more at Silicon Valley.

For every one p2p that dies, twenty more popup.

They're all lame anymore. You can't get anything worthwhile on them.

I agree, Ion. Too many "general public" users have cluttered the systems. I've been cut off downloading live performances so many times...they only want to recieve, never give.

Amen to that. When on those networks, I open up all of my files freely to anyone. It's irritating to not be able to expect the same in return.
