ANY BODY KNOW IF THERE IS A PROGRAM THAT CAN DETECT THE NAME OF A DRIVER , OR THE MANUFACTURER OF THE DEVICE .. I HAVE A NIC CARD THAT I WANT TO USE , WELL ACTUALLY I HAVE ABOUT 10 OF THEM AND THEY ARE ALL THE SAME.. WONDERING IF ANYONE NEW OF SUCH A PROGRAM...THAT I COULD DL OR SOMETHING...

Next, if the manufature can not be found. Is theres a serial number on it anywhere? If not. What is the FCC number? XXX-XXXXXXXX Should be in that format...

the cheaper nics there is a lot of times no way to tell. sometimes u can get that info like demonbob said or by reading the silk screening on the card or on the chips on the card. but there isnt a proggy that can tell u the maker or driver type. winME winXP and win2K will often be able to recognize older nics and often have drivers for them.

Generally, you must have a newer version of Windows to recognize less-known NICs.

My experience is that a RedHat Linux or FreeBSD boot disk will detect and display hardware devices better than anything.

You don't even need to install Linux. Just boot up off of the floppy(ies).
