What are the two Aztec/Myan looking structures outside the caverns on a side tunnel? I can't seem to get them to do anything.

The first one raises a pillar. The second one raises a floating bridge thing. The third one has a chest in it for the people that explore everything.
Just stand in the center of them to get'em going.
