Medal Of Honor Allied Assault patch problem
(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Well, I just finished playing Medal Of Honor Allied Assault and I have to say it is awesome. However, I installed the patch that is supposed to allow me to run the game without the CD, but I am still getting the prompt on the screen that asks for the CD. I clicked on the shortcut on my desktop, and on the game_server icon in My MOHAA directory, but nothing happened. I also created the shortcut which enables the cheats, but that didn't work either. I have the correct patch version, so can anyone help me?
Thanks.

Sorry, we don't help with cracks. Even if you are using them legitimately.

This isn't a crack. I just added that last part about the cheats in my previous post to explain that the shortcut didn't work. I just want to be able to run the game without the CD, which this patch is supposed to enable me to do. By the way, I don't mean to be stupid, but what is a stand-alone game server?

You don't seem to understand. Attempting to run a game without the CD in the drive is direct circumvention of piracy protection measures. Even if you want to call it a "patch", it's still a crack/hack/whathaveyou. Unless this "patch" is made available by the developer of the game, then it is not in the realm of anything supported at this site, or any other legitimate tech support outlet.

Ok, I get it. Forgive me for not making myself clear in my original post.
The patch for Medal Of Honor Allied Assault is downloadable from www.mohaa.ea.com The patch version is 1.11. According to the attached readme file and the patch description on the website, the patch is supposed to fix some problems with the game as well as enable the user to run the game without the CD in the drive. It is called a stand-alone game server. You can check it out if you don't believe me. Now, I downloaded the patch,( it was about 15 megs), to do all this, but it's not working. I thought maybe someone could help me here.
Now, I have other games on my computer as well, and their patches allow me to run them without the CD in the drive. I don't think that's piracy. Anyway, I hope this is a better description of the problem.

It's all good.
I checked out the patches section of that site, and read what it said. Here's the first snippit:
Medal of Honor Allied Assault UK & US 1.11 Patch
EA has made available a patch for Medal of Honor: Allied Assault PC.
Highlights:
1. Stand-alone game server that runs without CD
I assume this is what you are talking about. Now, my interpretation of this (and I believe the correct one), is not that this allows you to play the game without the CD. Rather, this patch allows you to create a dedicated server so that others can log on to it and play together. A dedicated server means that the computer is "dedicated" to running that server. It puts a great deal of resources into it. One property of a dedicated server, is that you can't play using that computer. It's just a server, nothing more.
So, I'm thinking you misunderstood the features set of this patch. I don't think it allows you to play the game without the CD -- it just allows a CD free dedicated server.
Make sense?

Yes, it does make sense now. Thanks for your patience and the info. Keep up the good work.
