Running demo

1st time i've run into this!
Downloaded a demo and tried to run it.
Pops up a DOS box and says "this program cannot be run in DOS mode"
What setting change or program do I need to rectify this.

The .exe file may be corrupted.
Since it is a dos game - try rebooting in msdos mode and then type in the execute command to run game
