System Hangs when trying to print

This is an HP Vectra VLi8 recently reimaged with a Windows 2000 Professional image. It has 320MB RAM and over 5GB free on an 8GB HD. Pagefile is set at 750-1000. It's also running Novell client 4.81.

The issue the user is having is that it regularly locks up when she attempts to print to a network printer that's setup to print via IP rather than NDPS. This primarily happens when she tries to print through Groupwise or MS Word. Also she has the problem that when she cliks Start, Control Panel, Printers the system hangs and will not display the list of installed printers. This is a frequent, though not constant problem. There are times when these issues are not present.

The system is fully updated with all current critical updates, Service Packs, security rollups, etc. Also the BIOS has been updated to the latest version.

Any thoughts on what might be causing these issues and how to resolve them are greatly appreciated.

Look here and here.

My guess is that Novell has fixed part of the problem. But, they haven't fixed the problem with direct IP printing.

They are recommending SP1 for the 4.83 client.

Kdr Kane...thx for your help as always! Do you know if SP1 for 4.83 is available for DL? Where can I get it?
