WinXP, GeForce2, and some weird images on my screen

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Ok, here's the basics of my system first.

OS: XP
CPU: Athlon TBird 1.2GHz
Sound: SBLive!Value
Video: nVidia GeForce2 Ultra 64MB
Monitor: Gateway EV910 (19in)
Everything else, well what came with my gateway system.

Ok, I moved in with my cousin at the beginning of the year (so I've been dealing with this problem for a while). Well, for some reason what I'm looking at on my screen seems blurred, well more like it has a translucent shadow. For example, just to the right of an icon on my desktop, you see the same icon only very light, like a shadow. I've tried doing the steps in XPs troubleshooters, but they're not a lot of help. Someone told me that the same thing happened to his right before his Vid card crapped out, but mine hasn't done that. In fact, this only seems to be something that happens on Windows and certain applications, because when I run Diablo II or another game, there's no conflict (though it could be because they're in 800x600 which seems to eliminate the problem on the desktop, however I like running 1600x1200)

Anyways, if anyone can help please let me know!

It could either be the monitor or the video card. You need to swap both components to determine the problem.

Move your computer to a different part of the room. Sometimes power cables in the wall, or electronic interference from nearby can cause ghosting on your monitor. Do you get wobbly images as well?

If your monitor is near unshielded stereo speakers (or a stereo, microwave, anything else like that) it can cause this problem. Have you tried degaussing your monitor?
