Recently I installed a new Seagate 80GB HD ST380021A, and a new Lite-on 32x12x40x Burner.
I got everything going great, set my OS on my old 20GB HD, and kept 80GB as a backup. Now....my problem is this:
Recently my friend came over and cleaned my fan and applied some glue or something on the fan to go over my cpu, supposedly cooling it down. So I didn't hesitate and said fine do so.
I checked my cpu with asus probe and was at 26 degree celsius, that's a great temperature.
My friend leaves, I check again after a day or two and what do I find? My cpu boots up at 36 degrees, but in BIOS it's at 24 degree.
Also, my new HD is so hot, that it's almost too hot to touch....I still can't hold my finger on it for a long period of time. I disconnected my A drive thinking maybe power supply was too weak, or too much current flow...still same thing. Now I was wondering if this is normal for this Seagate 80GB...
Tomorrow I'm going to remove my 20GB completely and format my D (80GB) and reinstall windows and what not there....and see how it goes.....I hope that you guys can offer some adive...is my cpu toast? or is it just cause my HD is flawed...what?
Thanks for your time.

The bios usually shows other temperatures than windows programs, as long as your cpu doesn't reach 60 degrees celcius, you got nothing to worry about.

I would trust the BIOS reading over any programs like motherboard monitor.
The HDD is hot because it's probably a 10000 RPM, or at least a 7200, and is in a cramped space with little air circulation. You need to hook up a case fan in some way to blow over the drive, or pick up a drive cooler.

It runs at 7200 RPM.
If you look here you can see that this drive runs a bit hotter than most.

Yeah, I used to have fan in the front, but I needed the extra power plug for my new HD, but I'm going to buy a little fan to blow at my computer, at least give it some fresh cooler air flow....i appreciate all the help, made me less worried.
Also, thanks Kdr Kane for showing me temperature levels
