Well I'm still tinkering with this Old Packard Bell & I Did a Ram upgrade before I installed a Processor upgrade on my Win95 system Mobo is PB600 w/8Mb onboard Ram & I installed another 64MB giving me 72mb on the old 75mhz pentium everything was recognized so I installed a evergreen Spectra400(AMD400mhz K6-2)that I thought went well all the numbers were right on till it came to the Ram Now I have a 400Mhz boat anchor with only 8mb of Ram recognized.
I found a newer Bios(97)would that make a difference?
If so what measures do I take to install the newer Bios

How did you get a 400mhz AMD Chip to work on a Pentium MOBO?

Evergreen Technologies makes upgrade kits for older computers using Amd CPU's they work on Socket5,7 & Super 7,the upgrades for the 75Mhz to 233Mhz pentium processors to Amd's 400 K6-2,I did one a couple of years ago & it was a piece of cake compared to this monster<g>
Live & learn I hope someone gives an idea on what to do next, evergreens tech support isn't open till Monday.
You can check out there site at Evertech.com

Back in the Socket 5,7... etc days, Pentium MMX's and AMD K6-2's were interchangable for the most part.
Updating the BIOS, basically, requires having the BIOS file, which you said you already found, and having the BIOS updating software that works with your mobo. Should be found on the manufacturer's web-site.
They should also have instructions, in-case there's some special way they want it installed.
