Sound Issues

[B][U]Hola all. I have an MSI KT3 333 Ultra mobo w/ onboard sound. I want to disable the onboard sound. The manual has nothing about it and MSI has crap 4 tech support. Any help would be greatly appreciated; thanx much

if there is not a jumper then disabling of the onboard sound is in ur bios

You do it in BIOS for the MSI, I think, because I have been reading reviews on this model..and noticed a lack of jumpers on the board.

I would much rather have a nice hardware jumper (less stuff to go wrong..hard for it to run when the juice is physically cut from it), anyhow...

Go into your BIOS, under "integrated peripherals" and disable the following.

AC 97 audio
on board game port
on board midi port

I hope this info is correct however, I do not own a motherboard with built in sound...yet.

If anyone out there knows 100%, then join in.

Well, I don't own a MSI mobo, but have had a couple boards with on-board sound, and if the MSI's is AC 97', I can't blame your for wanting to disable it.

In my experiance, all you have to worry about is the "AC 97 Audio" option that Chako referred to.
If you want to use the game/Midi port, you should be free to do so, but every manufacturer tends to do things different some times.
Once in your BIOS, the optoins you're looking for are usually under a "Integrated Peripherals" menu. But, again, every mobo maker can do things different.

Just remember, if your un-familiar with the BIOS, it doesn't hurt to look, but don't change anything you don't fully understand. If you do, remember or write down what it was so you can change it back if problems arise.

Good luck.
