Hello, I am running Windows XP Pro.
RIG:
AMD Athlon XP 1700+
512MB of PC2100 DDR RAM
Aopen AK77 Pro(A)-133 mobo
Western Digital 80GB 7200RPM WD800BB
nVIDIA Geforce3 Ti 500 (PNY Verto *AGP*)
Whenever I hit CTRL+ALT+DEL, Windows Task Manager comes up. I noticed that in the processes tab at the very bottom there is a System Idle Process that uses almost all of the CPU power all the time.
Does anyone know what this is, and if it is normal?
I thank you for your time, it is greatly appreciated.
I have included a screenshot somewhere, don't know where the link will end up.

That's very normal in an NT, 2000 or XP based operating system.
That's just a tracking mechanism to show the CPU idle time.

Well, I uploaded a pic to the OTS website.
If I post a reply and add an img url I'm pretty sure that would do it. The problem is that I don't know the url of the image. Anyone know how to do this?
LOL I am such a newbie.

A picture of the Task Manager?
That isn't necessary. I believe you. It's normal, as I said.

CPU idle is a good thing as it prolongs CPU life and keeps the heat level down in your case. Windows Me and 98 don't have CPU idle.
If it really bothers you having your CPU idle, run a SETI client for OTS...hehe
