Posted by: Gunslinger
I'll start hunting some useful files and progs for the downloads section. I know where I can find a lot.
Posted by: philmcneal
cool thanks for the fourm glad to help
Posted by: Shalome
Perhaps we could add Dungeon Siege mods? Not cheat-type ones, of course...
Posted by: philmcneal
ds....... what a bad game.... d2 is hella better in terms of fun value
Posted by: philmcneal
i suggested a better download section... i serached the old fourms coudln't find my reply
so progess how's it going
Posted by: Kdr Kane

Long time ago = 10 days ago
Posted by: philmcneal
looololololol u found it! so how come the downloads section still looks a bit cooky?
maybe you need a guy like ME to spice it up :P
Posted by: Bobaroo
I am sure you could suggest to laggy a few files you think should be in there.
Posted by: Canis Lupus
the downloads section will be updated once we know which files to offer... so yeah, suggestions will help...
Posted by: redwench
ok, how about those little utilities we all know and love, such as pop up killers, ad aware, and memory monitors? and maybe a p2p client or 2 (with no spyware, of course ). possibly a free virus scanner or 2?
keep people from asking for them, and eliminate those horrible search engine nightmares.
Posted by: philmcneal
ya have reviews check for spy ware and when you browse the main download section make it so you dont need to refresh your browser too much... as less as possible so people don't have to load as much
drivers of popular video cards and custom drivers are good too!
Posted by: Shalome
Download updates on the way:
Panicware, Inc. PopUp Stopper
Lavasoft AdAware 5.83
Collection of icons for Windows use
(more as soon as I get around to it)
Posted by: Bobaroo
You could add the program that changed Windows Icons to look like WinXP icons.
Posted by: Fenix2004
Adaware
Edit: oops it is already there.
Posted by: philmcneal
be sure to make navigation of the download section easy and make it the page doesn't refreshes too much

I have no idea what you mean by this ... there is no refresh script in the download section...
And how easier can the navigation be? After you click on the Downloads button, you get presented the general categories, which are pretty self explanatory.
Any suggestions on how to make the navigation "easier"?

Works fine for me.
Then again you could always make the whole site voice activated... that would make things easier

I think philmcneal is complaining that he has a slow connection and has to click through too many things. I believe he'd be happier if all the downloads were listed right on the first page. I think it's okay the way it is, but maybe the first page you see COULD actually have some downloads on it.. like "most popular" or "most recent" or something... instant gratification for the click- happy.
Posted by: Kdr Kane
I don't like the "most popular" or "most downloaded".
I don't mind the categories, but there's no way to see a complete list.
Posted by: philmcneal
oh no like
say i want a driver..
i would go to downloads... then hardware... then drivers
make it so people would only have to go like one step
mutimenu in one page instead of clicking on a menu and it refreshes the page to a new one...
er hard to expain.. and no i have cable :P
hm... ok it's like this
u point at hardware and SUDDENY a drop down list appears and u get a list of hardware thingys
INSTEAD of clicking on hardware and then ur whole page goes to hardware section...
hope this helps
Posted by: Shalome
Uh.. actually, if you wanted a driver, you go to Downloads, then click Drivers - Audio, or Drivers - Video, then take your pick of the available drivers...
Ain't that hard to navigate, man.
Posted by: Canis Lupus
Hmmm ... I click on downloads, then I click on drivers - video ... voila, the files are there! The categories are only one level deep ... it's impossible to get lost, unless you do not know what you are specifically looking for...
A dropdown list actually doesn't make a difference in terms of navigation - you would still need to click on the dropdown thingy and choose an option
Posted by: philmcneal
but u see by clicking 3 times my whole window refreshes 3 times..
Posted by: Canis Lupus
You only click two times actually (unless clicking on the file itself also refreshes your browser)... anyway, I don't see your point, or the problem with the whole "refresh" thing ... reading forum posts "refreshes" your screen more than the downloads section does...
Posted by: philmcneal
yeah that is why fourms are so SLOWWWWWWWW
i dunno the interface for dl section looks kinda BLAND
can't u spice it up a bit?

Hey Laggy... how much bandwith do you have again??
LOL - Hey Phil... this is OTS not Tucows or Cnet. If you need to download something... go there. All Laggy can do is link to the relevant sites.

in the download section utilities-internet
you have 4 anti popup sites. are any of them better than the other one?
Meaya Pop-Up Killer
Panicware Pop-Up Stopper
Proxomitron 4.0
Zero Popup
dont want to install all 4 and respect your opinions
thanks
Posted by: Canis Lupus
Well, it's good to have choices
Try Proxomitron ... I have used it, and it works great...
Posted by: -EG-raynor
heres something good to put in the DL sectoin .. bnet patches ... it would help ppl that couldnt connect to bnet
Posted by: Canis Lupus
It's kinda hard to keep up with Blizzard's patches sometimes (besides, they can easily download em off Blizzard's site anyway) ... anyway, I'll see if I can update the patches...
Posted by: -EG-raynor
true, u can dl them off blizzards sites ... but sometimes its like a month b4 they ever post them on there own site
Posted by: Canis Lupus
Hmmm, well, the only way we can actually "get" those official patches is if we download em off Blizzard's site ... so in effect, Blizzard will always have them available for download before OTS does
Posted by: -EG-raynor
.. actually cant u just drag them outa ur folder off ur games
Posted by: Canis Lupus
Hehe, sure, as soon as you find the patch.exe file in your game folder when you download it off Battle.Net after you log on coz I can't find it.
I mean, I was sure I downloaded a 1.01 patch for war3 off bnet when I logged on ... but I couldn't find the .exe file for that patch ... can you?
