Random rebooting can be many things.
The first thing I recommend trying is closing down all extra programs after a reboot. Do Control+alt+del and endtask on everything except systray, explorer and Point32. Then try the game.
If it still happens, taking off the case cover. It is possible that you are overheating. Make sure there is no dust on the CPU fan and on the power supply fan. I recommend a second fan even if your system is not overheating. The cooler the system, the better it is. With the case cover off, let the system cool down. Then play with the case cover off. If it plays fine with the case cover off.. you have a heat problem.
Check for any dos compatibility problems. To do this, do a right click on MY COMPUTER--->Properties--->Performance. If you see a a white box, then post what you see in the white box. If it says "Your system is configured for optimal performance", then you are ok there.
Check for conflicts in the device manager.
To do this, do a right click on MY COMPUTER--->Properties--->Device Manager. Look for any ?'s, X's, and/or any !'s. List what you see there.
Next, the MSCONFIG file.
Uncheck the Autoexec and the Config option on the General Tab.
In the Startup area. Leave Systemtray, mouse drivers, scan regitry, loadpowerprofiles (both of them)
If you see Machine Debug Manager, uncheck that one. For some reason, that cause more lag and system problems on win98. I even went out and renamed my MDM.exe file because it still managed to get loaded up when I ran some software. Everything still runs great. Odd.
Next, reboot. Problems still occur, post back with what you have done to help eliminate any future troubleshooting options.
Good Luck!!!!
