and how many times have you had your conversation completely ruined by this? i doubt there are many fascinating discussions about fish and birds on battle.net.

Posted by: Bosk of PortKar

you'd be surprised, and that isn't what the thread is about anyway.
It's about what words can we come up with that are normal, yet are censored.
(meaning just how silly is their filter)

example: Seems kind of odd that for a US based company to censor the name of the Vice-President of the US. hmm?

Filters are there for a reason ... they weren't imposed for the sake of censorship ... it's because people tend to abuse some words any which way they can, and due to the anonymity of the internet, anyone tries to be as vulgar as they want to be because no one would slap their mouths for it.

It just happens that "common" words have become associated with cuss words. The filter may or may not be reasonable or acceptable, but it is there for a reason...

Some may consider the filter silly or stupid, but it doesn't necessarily prevent you from communicating properly on battle.net. You just have to be more creative when you actually find a need to say c0ckatrice or b!tch in a chatroom...

The cencoring helps though. It keeps some idiots' mouthes shut which can be useful because ofthe huge amount of people on Battle.net.

As you said some people take to swearing for no apparent reason.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you our head moderator. Lito, I love ya, dude!!

If you were a chick, I'd seduce you, sleep with you twice and then never call you again. That's my highest sign of respect. . . .no, really, baby.

I think you ought to stop right there though....
