Oh man...It looks even better then the first one.

Posted by: Canis Lupus

Great trailer well, it's more a teaser with the huge amount of things in TTT that's bound to unfold!

Posted by: Kdr Kane

It has some of the same scenes I saw yesterday at the end of FOTR.

But, the trailer at the end of the movie had just a little extra.

Posted by: Tecil

That shot of Legolas whipping out the two blades is awesome.

Posted by: Fenix2004

Gandalf looks like Sarumon now. I like the way he looks.

EDIT: They copied braveheart at the end with the horses charging into the spiked logs. Just like Gladiator did.

Posted by: Shalome

NOOOOOO! I can't wait till CHRISTMAS!!! It's too far away!

Grrrr... seeing that trailer was like sneaking down and unwrapping a corner of your Christmas present early..

I think I'm suffering from LOTR deficiency. Time to go do to the gas station so I can talk to the guy behind the counter who looks like a hobbit (kind of like a blond Elijah Wood...)...

Posted by: Fenix2004

Haha. My electrician looks exactly like Bilbo Baggins

Posted by: Fenix2004

The one thing I like a lot about this movie is that they make the characters look dirty. Most old adventure movies make their characters look nice and clean. This movie the characters have messy, dirty hair and dirty fingernails. I like that realistic touch considering the main characters travel for days without bathing.

Posted by: TheeMon

heh my cusin kinda looks like bilbo

Are you blind?
Those weren't logs.
Those were soldiers, holding spears.
"Duh"

Posted by: Null Actor

...And they didn't do anything like that in Gladiator either.

Posted by: Jeddak

I can't wait for the dvd's little lone the 2nd movie.....I need a "LotR's" look a like. I know a guy in town that looks like Clarence the angel (the name of the movie escapes me for some reason..guess it's the 443am time) but that's the best I can do...hmm..wonder if he would mind wearing hobbit clothes. : )

Posted by: Shalome

(Clarence the angel = Its a Wonderful Life, the quintessential Christmas flick...)

LOL....Fenix got owned

Fenix, what part are you referring to in Gladiator?

Posted by: Fenix2004

I can't believe they showed Gandalf at the end. It spoils it for people who did not read the books. And Darky!, I know that it was spears but I meant it in being the same concept.

Posted by: Nfested

You did the quote thing wrong, might want to fix that.

I just saw the trailer and I can't wait for Dec 18!

Umm yes they did. The chariots were circling them and they put up spears at the last second. Watch the movie again. It will not be hard for you to see given the fact by you frequently that you are so smart.

Ouch... This is just the internet afterall. Who Cares?

Posted by: Nfested

I liked how in the next one the characters don't look exactly the same. And I wonder who that blonde woman who was dueling with Aragorn was. I couldn't see if it was Liv Tyler or not.

I like how they show that Gandalf is still alive, makes you want to watch the movie wondering how he lived (for the people who don't read the books).

Also, you can't say make fun of anyone copying a concept. You can say that LOTR copied Gladiator because they used the concept of sword fighting.

No, it's not. She is in the second book (and human).

Please nobody give anything more about the new characters away please.

Hmmm, well, no need to watch the movie again to tell you that the scene is more akin to Braveheart than Gladiator ... and I don't think anyone's copying anything everytime there is a scene where someone raises a spear at the last minute ... it's an action device, and Gladiator is hardly the one that pioneered the technique, either...

And by the way, showing Gandalf alive again is hardly a "spoiler" ... it's more a teaser since a. More than half the people who will watch the movie already knows he's still alive anyway, and b. they didn't really show him dying in the first installment - they only showed him falling

Posted by: redwench

ok, people with spears in thier hands (and arent throwing them) are called pikemen. they were used in battle for just as the above scenes showed, to bring down horses. this isnt a movie device, it is history, european at least. a pikeman is virtually useless against a soldier or an archer, but quite good against mounted troops.
now, i dont know enough about the lotr books to know if that scene is in there. if it is, it vastly predates gladiator and braveheart.

Posted by: Ion Silverbolt

*Bows to Red's impressive midevil fighting technique knowledge*

I think the Pikemen carry somekind of shortsword for close quarter fighting. Although I doubt it's very effective against a charging soldier with a broadsword.

Okay, to most of us, these are not "new" characters. They are familiar, long-awaited characters. A lot of people have read the books and are discussing the movies from that basis.

If you're so terrified of knowing that there are new characters or new scenes, just don't read these threads!

Heh.. is there any way we can tweak the forums to keep Fenix from seeing any LOTR-related thread??

Posted by: Kdr Kane

I just find it kind of funny that somebody would watch the preview and get upset when they get their question answered.

I thought I left it as a teaser.

Posted by: Nfested

Yea, u didn't spoil anything for me. And if something was spoiled about the blonde woman I wouldn't complain about it cuz I wanted to know who she was.

Posted by: Erekose

heh i think the dvd for fotr comes out 3 days before my b-day. (i know what im geting :biggrin

Posted by: Xtren

The trailer looks awesome I love it. Also it appears that Gollum will have a fairly big role in this movie. He was barely even included in the first part but played a fairly big role in the novel.

The first part didn't show him much because the first book didn't talk much about him either, except for some history on how Bilbo got the ring from him, and the brief mentions of him following the ringbearer... those who have read the books know that Gollum's biggest part is in the third installment ... and boy, what a big part it is

Posted by: Xtren

Well I just finished reading FOTR today, I'll be starting on the Two Towers tomorrow

You should do something liek this:
Quote:

SPOILER ALERT!!
THIS IS A NASTY SPOILER THAT SOME MEMBERS DON'T WANT TO SEE!!!

Posted by: Shalome

Heh.. no.. that apparently doesn't work, since a) he considers every mention of something he wasn't aware of (not having read the books) to be a spoiler, and b) in the past when people have put SPOILER he's made comments like THAT WAS TOO MUCH OF A SPOILER!

Heh..

Posted by: Xtren

What exactly is a spoiler in this thread though? The trailer shows very little of what is going to happen in the movie.

Posted by: Shalome

My point exactly...

Yes. The one way and only way is if I stop looking at this thread. I will miss talking about it, but it is the only way that nobody can spoil it for me. Happy posting

Kevin Spacey is the killer in Seven!!!

Hehe, just testing the "hidden post" feature ... you can enable this when you start a new topic or reply to one by using the checkbox at the very bottom...

Good for posting spoilers

Posted by: Swilo

Now all we need is to know WHERE THE HELL DID THE POST REPLY BUTTON GO?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
All I see are new thread and quick reply (which I'm forced to use for the first time)

Posted by: Bobaroo

Yep, There is a bug in the forum.

All the new topics do not show up.

Posted by: Xtren

At least the quick reply button works fine.
