Member List keeps getting shorter

Heh, the new thread button doesn't work....

Anyway this is what I meant to post:

"This is already the second time that this has happened, but I've noticed that on occasion the member's list keeps gets a lot shorter. Not too long ago OTS.net had well over 2000 members but now we only have about 1900. I just thought that was a bit peculiar."

Inactive members with like 1 post count and haven't posted in like 6 months are deleted from teh member database.

I was just wondering, even though that's what I was guessing was the reason. There really does seem to be a lotof people who visit the site once, create an account, and then never return again.

OMG I found the quick reply!

Yeah, lots of people just come in, get their question answered and leave. Means we do our job well

Posted by: Xtren

Well you guys are really helpful, there's always someone that knows the answer to your question because it is a fairly large community here at OTS.

Might have found part of the reason ... the site has a tendency to eat your submit!

Not conducive to leaving lots of stuff here!

The member list is kept in check every month ... those who have not visited the site three months after they registered, and do not have a single post to their name, get pruned, so that we can get rid of unnecessary bloat on the database and make the file size smaller.

Much like Battle.net, which removes accounts that haven't been used for more than three months...

Our apologies, this only happened today after I incorporated some "experimental" features. Post again and see if the site still eats your posts...

Good, now I can post replies, everything seems to be working now.

You mean unless you get yourself kicked out. No one is forcing you to break the forum guidelines.

Posted by: Xtren

It does seem a bit hard to get kickedout... the forum rules aren't all that hard to follow.

Yes this is true, we also have some nice friendly guides here in case you get lost on the path.

A certain level of strictness is good though too.
