More things found while looking for something else entirely

Welcome to the second installment of..
"Things I Found While Looking for Something Else Entirely"
(Can I turn this into a regular "column," Laggy? Trust me, I have the time to do it weekly...)

http://www.trebuchet.com/

How to build your own backyard and desktop midieval artillery -- catapults, ballista, trebuchets, mangonels, onagers.. if it hurled stuff, you can find plans for it here.

This site also includes the incredible story of one crazy Texan, Ron L. Toms, who in his teenage years successfully built himself a trebuchet designed to throw HIM and his friends 40 feet into a river. He also added some articles and pictures about how he went on to hurl himself off other things, such as dams and the Grand Canyon.

Make sure to check out the story of the Californians who spent a fun-filled afternoon with their trebuchet, some watermelons, and a few shotguns!

Now the question is: What on earth were you looking for that brought up medieval catapults?!?

Lego my eggos

Posted by: Shalome

Heh.. that will be at the end of every article.. how did i GET to this stuff while looking for something else?

Process:
Was reading Slashdot.
Slashdot sometimes runs stories about cool things made out of legos.
While searching for an article I read a while back about the lego-sculpture guy who did a lego-sculpture of Emily the Strange (which I never did find)...
...I came across this other article which contained a link to a page abouta Lego trebuchet...
...which contained a link to http://www.trebuchet.com.

And yes, this is how my mind works 80% of the time.

Oh sure! Dash my perception of a woman into medieval weaponry!

Posted by: Shalome

I'm into it, I just wasn't actively looking for it at the time.

If you remember, my first installment of "Things I Found While Looking for Something Else Entirely" involved swords and armor.

elf rapist

Posted by: redwench

id like to think it would be quite consentual

Posted by: Rayneeday

Shal, i think that way too. I prefer to think of myself as a freethinker rather than scatterbrained but some(hubby ) would probably disagree. I blame it on losing IQ points for each child i have, i am about down to the special ed class so i better stop

(Btw, Wenchy, you want to *ahem* most males with blond hair, pointy ears not required )

Posted by: redwench

true, true......but the pointy ears helps.
