Asus will start shipping their new ASROCK line of products, which are targeted to the lower end of the market, sometime in September according to DigiTimes:
After months of preparation, Asustek Computer’s Hua Ching subsidiary will begin shipments in September, said Johnny Shih, chairman of Asustek.
With the new ASROCK brand name, Hua Ching’s motherboard products are set to target the low-price segment and are regarded by Asustek as the latest tool to expand its market share. Facing fierce competition and the industry’s trend towards low prices, Shih said that Asustek is unable to predict its overall gross margin in the third quarter. At present, the company’s primary goal is to maintain its first-place position in shipments, he added.
It should be interesting to see if Asus intentionally holds back these products. Read more here.

Yay! More cheaper low quality Motherboards!
In truth though, more integration is not necessarily a bad trend. It will vastly reduce driver issues and software conflicts as well as remove some bottlenecks that exist in current computer archetecture.
It's no accident that nVidia and ATI have been pushing into the chipset market, and it's not solely motivated by lowering overall costs.
