ATI's new CustomerCare page is stating that after September 1, 2002, ATI will be charging on a per-minute basis for support telephone calls. Most of ATI's products will include "complimentary" access to these services for 30 days. The others are "end of life" products and will be phased out.
A strange turn, but I suppose ATI is looking for profit in any way possible.

Well, paid support isn't really an irregularity with tech companies. Several large companies have been charging for phone support for years.
They probably considered their support costs to be too much and decided to cut their losses by charging for it...

i actually agree with laggy for once
they probably noticed that a lot of thier calls were very simple and answered in the manual. making it a toll call will probably force idiots to read the manual before calling them.
lets face it, chances are that if theres a real problem with your mobo, its going to be in the first month. after that, it can be dealt with via email if its not covered in said manual.
