Fire

The flatirons to the west of my house caught fire at about 9 o'clock tonight. I've never been so close to a forest fire before; I can watch the whole thing from my back porch, which tells you how close I am. The entire house smells like a campfire and it looks like it's really foggy outside, except of course, it's all smoke.
I think it's sort of interesting to be able to experience this first-hand. Maybe I'll take pictures tomorrow during the day as I survey the damage (so far, 100+ acres).
Here's local news about it with pictures for anyone that cares.

I sympathize with you, that smell is hard to get rid of. Your house is not in any danger is it?

I love the smell of forest fires. We got it a lot when I was a kid... living in northern alberta, there was almost always at least a week or two out of the year when the town was blanketted with smoke.
They are also a pretty awesome thing to watch.
