Problem running Diablo II with brand new computer...

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Ok, I just got a new computer, stats are...

AMD Athlon XP 1800
ASUS A7V333 Motherboard
512 DDR PC2100 Ram
eVGA GeForce 4 Ti4200 128meg
Soundblaster Live!
Cable modem
etc.

Anyways, when I run diablo II, after playing for about 4-5 minutes
the game usually freezes and my speakers put out this loud beeping
sound. I cant ctrl-alt-del, alt-tab or anything, only way to get
out is reset.

Yes, I have my latest video card drivers...
I tried running it in DirectDraw and Direct3d modes, on both
screen resolutions, no change...

Oh, and I had no trouble at all with my old 1000mhz athlon and
geforce2 mx....

Can anyone help?

Oh, I am pretty sure its not overheating too... although my computer does run a little hot (case has horrible airflow, actually none...), I have another case with good ventilation coming in a week. My cpu usually stays around 55 or so celcius when I am just sitting around on the net, and it runs between 58-63 celcius when Im playing a game. The threshold is set at 86 celcius.... and I believe the chip can go up to 95 or so. So I doubt its overheating...

It just doesn't make sense... I have no trouble running any other games.

also make sure yo have the latest sound and video card drivers

Do you have the same problem with any other games?

Try removing the side of your case.

It appears to be an IRQ conflict or a heating problem.

You may want to look through Blizzard's suggestions here.

Ok, I think I figured out what the problem was. I was having a power supply issue, I had 2 cdrom drives, 3 fans, 2 harddrives, floppy, etc, with the 1.5 ghz computer listed above, all hooked into a 250watt powersupply, lol...

I wasn't having an overheating problem, but, I think I was just losing power to the harddrive,

Anyways, I got a new case with good ventilation, and a 400watt powersupply, and it works great, and it hasn't gone above 54c yet, it stays steady around 45c.

Anyways everything works perfect guys, thanks for the replys.
