Warcraft II windows XP problem

A friend of mine is having a real problem getting Warcraft II (2) to run on his Windows XP system.
Anyone got any ideas??

Is it the Battle.Net edition or War2 classic? Coz if it's the latter, I don't think it'll run on any OS past Win98 ...
If it's the former, a little more details will be appreciated

Don't worry about it.... I have no idea what version it is or what their specs are.......
