pc doesn't turn ON

Hi, I really hope somebody could help me out in this.

My PC specs:
ATX 300w
AMD Athlon 1000Mhz
SDRAM: Infinion 512MB
ECS K7VZA ver.3.2 mboard
HDD: Samsung 5400 30GB
Maxtor 5400 20GB

- The problem is that my PC is not turning ON at all. After I shut it down (properly), then the next day it wouldn't turn on again. Somehow there is no proper power supply in the computer. The only signs of power are: on the keyboard (led light) and in the motherboard there is a green led ON located close to the CPU, there are no other signs of power (even the fans are not functioning or anything else possible. My computer is attached to a Backup (UPS).
I would really appreciate if someone could help me in this.
Thank you in advance.

Have you tried taking it off the UPS and just plugging it into the wall normally? If it works, then you know your UPS has gone bad.

First of all, thank you for replying!
Yes, I took it off the UPS, now the interesting thing about it is that there is just a 5v supply flowing from the power supply unit to the motherboard, there are no other tensions, therefore I guess that the problem might be at the PSU!

problem could also be your motherboard, it could be regulating the power and not coming out of sleep mode. but the ps is the more likely culprit. just run down to the nearest comp store and pick up a 400w ps, youll need it if you upgrade later anyway.

Its probably the PSU. That kinda thing happened to me, where if I hit the PSU it would work for a while then just shutdown randomly, yet the keyboard and case power light would stay on. Somethings probably loose inside, a solder connection broke or something.

Thats my guess

I'm thinking power supply also.

I don't exactly understand in power supplies, but when I opened the case, I expected to smell a burning part or anything, but there is no smell or anything else suspicious!

Most of the time, they just stop working, and you won't be able to smell anything.

Try another PSU to know for sure.

heh, they (and most electronics) are designed to quit working without catching on fire. if you smell something burning, then its pretty much failed beyond the designers wildest expectations.

Hey gues,

I just bought a new PSU, I replaced the old with the new one and everything goes smooth ;-)

Many thanks

Glad you got it fixed.
