Fuzzy colors on monitor

This is a Dell system with Win 98. Because of the KLEZ virus, I had to completely reformat my HD and reload WIN 98. Since then, my monitor displays most B/W stuff OK but color photos etc. are very fuzzy as are most any color displayed in a note. Can any one suggest some fixes?

Did you install the correct video drivers?
Make sure you are using 16-bit or 32-bit color in your display settings ... and also make sure you have specified your monitor model (if it has INF drivers) in the device manager instead of the default Plug-and-play monitor...
