How many computers do you have in your home?
(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)
Posted by: Canis Lupus
Well, it's late, but it's here ... get used to it! Yep, it's time for a new poll, and here's another suggestion by Shalome...
So, how many computers do you have in your home? And this means only the ones that are still working, not the dilapidated dinosaurs you have stacked in your garage or somewhere else. And this includes both Macs and PCs, for those of you who don't consider a Mac a computer (can't blame ya, hehe). And you don't have necessarily to own them - just giving the total number of vacuum tubes in your house will suffice...
So anyway, do the clickey-clickey on the polly-polly...

Just the 1 for me
Posted by: Spider
I think we have 9 machines that are running (two of which are mine) and a bunch of others that are old or have been harvested for parts.
Posted by: Shalome
3 functional computer, one unused mobo and some various parts.
2 printers. Both suck.
Posted by: Tweaker
Have three myself, one I use the other two my wife and son use.
Posted by: SKYHN
I have 6, 1 doesnt run right now, but will someday:
My main PC - P4 1.3ghz
My previous PC(used as LAN and personal stuff) P3 700mhz
Laptop - P3m 1.2ghz
3 Very Old Desktops(P 133mhz, AMD 133mhz and AMD 120mhz. The 120 doesnt run and is all apart)
I use them all(cept the one that isnt running right now) at various times. Sometimes im in the mood for some old dos games, and I play on the old ones. The 2 133's are networked and I play starcraft with people sometime on them. Both have dual hard drives, one with dos/win3.1 and the other with Win95.

2 that I currently use P3 866mhz, and p3 933mhz
1 P60 (old work machine I still use the Nec 17 monitor on one of the above computers )
1 P200mmx (sons old computer basically stripped)
1 P166mmx (my old computer)
2 TRS80 model I (one not working)
1 TRS80 III (built in monitor does not work)
1 TRS80 IV
1 TRS80 CoCo
1 Colecovision Adam
what can I say I am a pack rat
Posted by: Chako
I have 4 right now.
1) AMD 2000+ XP system (my main system)
2) AMD 1.2 Thunderbird
3) Pentium 100MX Laptop from Everex.
4) AMD K6-3 400.
They all work. I did not count my 1 Palm. Hey...they have 16 MHz CPUs that would put to shame many older 80s computers.
Got enough parts to build a very nice AMD K6-2 350 system.
As for printers:
1) Brothers HL1250 laser upgraded to 35megs of RAM.
2) HP 932C inkjet
3) Epson 875DC inkjet
4) Brothers HL1020 laser with 2megs of RAM
This is just what I use...I also have a very old Panasonic KX P4410 office printer collecting dust.

i have 4 but one is an emachines and was screwed when the fan thing blew up, another was a windows 3.1 dunno what model comp but it just doesnt work- a shame seeing as though it has some of my favorite games on it. the third is a packard bell with win95 on it but not enough gig or meg to install games on it and the music doesnt work prolly something to do with sound card. And the fourth is the one im using now which is a hewlit packard pavillion with windows millenium. So basically i only have 2 but i include the broke ones.

lol. well they arent in my garage and im in the process of fixing them sooo...
Posted by: Chako
Yep. If I included all the ones that don't work or I don't use..well...I could go into business..
So folks, only count the ones you use and are in full working condition...K thanks.
Posted by: Tecil
I only have 2 now. My XP 1800 box and an old IBM PII 300 Thinkpad.
Posted by: The_Turks(ff7)
sorry that i dont pay attention... actually the 3.1 works but you cant do anything on it. it gets a little red light on the 5 3/4 disk drive....lol so i actually have 3
Posted by: Spider
I was wrong, we have eight, not nine.
Posted by: Bobaroo
Hmm lets see how....how many....
1-in my room
1-in my bros room
3-in basement
1-Family Room
3-P2's not hooked up
I probably have more somewhere in the house.
Posted by: Canis Lupus
If the P2s are not hooked up, how do you know they're working? And who's using the 3 puters in the basement!

I know the P2's work. I just have no more room for them.
My dad and sister use two in the basement and I use the other one. The one in my room does not have the net. It is just for typing and doing homework.
My dad gets so many free computers from work...we have so many.
Posted by: Storm_Shot
I put down three since Gir is still in Savannah
I've got My bro's craptacular Compaq (which I yelled at him over the phone NOT to buy), I've got an old gateway I use to run old games that the Comcrap CAN'T, and I have a Speri Ultra hooked up in the basement just so I can laugh at Castle, the only game you can beat by walking through a hole in the wall.
Posted by: Blackknight
I voted without reading the rules. 2 in my basement, one old dinosaur that works and has power, but is used twice every decade.
Posted by: AK47
2 durons for me
a 700mhz Micron that is my parents and a 1ghz machine that me and Gerb build (mostly gerb)
Posted by: Atlas4
3's the way to go!
1.My dad's Mac G3 with a G4 chip in it.
2.My dad's other G4, used just for video editing
3.My very own, very special snow Imac for gaming and programming! LONG LIVE MACS!!!
Canis, I think that Macs are good. Way better, no viruses. They're just better machines.
Posted by: Chako
No viruses for Macs? Where did you get that strange notion?
Macs and Viruses
Now, there are a lot less..but then, that is because not that many people use Macs as opposed to PCs. If the shoe was on the other foot, you can bet there would be more viruses for Macs out there.

I have 3 computers working, and one "pending." I didn't count the last one, though. It's a long story.
A 386 that stores some old buisiness information
Gateway 450 PII
and my home built 1700+ Athlon system
Posted by: Chako
Palm computer
And to think this thing is just as powerful as most computers up to 1988.

Posted by: Aufs.Hunter

2. Old 100Mhz Comp
3. P3 500Mhz Comp
4. P3 500Mhz Laptop
5. P3 Celeron 1.4Ghz Comp

4 dual-PII compaq raid servers..... all free and given to me by a company who honestly didn't want to recycle them.
1 Pentium Pro - Smoothwall Firewall
3 workstations.... Me, my brother, and my parents.
1 laptop.... mine.
Posted by: Tyelly
I've got 2 computer's, 1 is mine (80 GB), and the other is my bro's (5 GB) heh heh....
And if you count the V-Tek laptop, i have three. lol.
Posted by: Zakir
How can you compare computers by their hard drive sizes?
Posted by: demon_horse
I have my PC which is now relegated to backup coz of the 120Gb of Hard drive, my laptop which has a better chip, more ram, better graphics and is considerably faster on the net, my PDA which I use for MP3s on way to work and as an organiser, so that's 3, or 5 if PS2 and Dreamcast count.

Only The One If It Goes Down--thats It! More Than One Computer I Would Have More Problems To Figure Out....

+1
I only count the ones on the network, so...6.
My main, A64 3200+
My secondary, XP-M 2400+
Family main, P4 2.66
Family secondary, A-XP 2200+
Kitchen computer (used for recipes for my mom and that sort of thing) Celeron 500
My dad's laptop, P4 2.8
and then there's the 486, but I don't generally count that one since it's not used regularly or wired to the network.
Posted by: Kephryn
Now why would any one need more then one computer?
well the answer is KVM and more the one task at hand
I have at least 10 running computers in my basement
Posted by: eleanorstang
