New Video card problems

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I have:
Abit KT7A motherboard
256 MB PC133 Ram
AMD XP 1700 processor
Chaintech Geforce 4 Ti 4200-64MB Ram
Windows XP home
Soundblaster Live Value

Every time i run a directx 8.1 game like Warcraft III, my computer locks up within 10 seconds of running. I have the latest bios for my motherboard and newest video card drivers. Everything else works fine including the nvidia technology demos(which don't appear to use directx 8.1)

Any suggestions?

Try testing your video card’s compatibility with Warcraft III. Click here to download the program.

I have the latest version of directx off of microsofts site. This problems affects all games that use this. If i play an older game such as quake three or Fifa 2002, they work fine. Also i tried the warcraft 3 video test and it seemed to work fine. Other programs like the latest 3d mark also fail like warcraft 3. I can put my old video card in my system and it works fine. I am beginning to think my video card is bad or there is an unresolved bios conflict between my video card and motherboard.

I had the same problem...this is how I fixed.

Right Click on the Warcraft3 shorcut.
Go to Properties.
At the end of the shortcut line add " -opengl"
