Alright, I'm planning to buy a new portable MP3/CD player that I can bring with me to work and to the gym, and I can't decide on which to buy ...
So far, I have narrowed it down to two:
SONICblue RioVolt SP250

iRiver SlimX iMP-350
http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B...01.MZZZZZZZ.jpg
They are both priced at approximately $150 ... and I couldn't decide which one to choose Can anyone offer some advice?
(And no, I don't plan to buy those portable MP3 players that use memory sticks and flash memory ... I want something that can also play CDs)

I would say the Riovolt one.

well, if you've got it narrowed down to two models- the decision is pretty easy. Pick the one with the better features.
If they are still even then, go with the cooler looking one. In that case, I dig the silver one

Well, I have narrowed it down to two from surfing Amazon.com and Buy.Com, but of course there may be someone with a better suggestion as to what to buy I'm always open to better stuff...
Both of them are toe-to-toe on features ... the Riovolt looks better, but most of its components are plastic ... the SlimX is half the thickness of the Riovolt and has a sleek silver look, but it looks plain ... SlimX has better tech, but Riovolt has more accessories... right now, I'm just reading on the customer feedback because it's a stalemate in terms of features and looks... so far, the Riovolt has slightly more negative feedback, but then again, it's been out much longer than the SlimX, and there were only a handful of feedback for the SlimX, so none can tell yet if it still works after a few months...
Now, the only reasons I stay away from Flash memory or memory card MP3 players is that they are either too expensive or they have too little space to store songs by default - not to mention I have to connect them to the computer everytime I need to add songs, as opposed to just burning MP3s to CD-Rs ...
Anyway, was hoping some people own some portable MP3 players and give me some testimonials

An update ...
After some time spent thinking and surfing sites and reading reviews and checking out message boards dedicated to the subject, I decided NOT to buy either of these players and just find a way to record some MP3s onto a Minidisc and play it on my MiniDisc player, which I already own...
So in effect, this was the only product I bought after all my trouble...

oh well, it saved me more than a hundred bucks, tho ... thanks for all the advice btw

I own this one:

The battery life alone is worth it. Of course, the thing crapped out, and is out getting 'serviced'. It's kinda fragile, but assuming you aren't throwing it around, it's pretty good. And it has yet to skip on me, even when I have it in my backpack and I'm wandering around the city.

Just came back to this thread to reccomend a MD player laggy! Looks like you figured it out for yourself.
Just got a sharp unit myself (which I plan on using for recording mainly) but the ability to throw MP3s on it will be taken advantage of too.
Good call laggy
