i wouldnt touch it with a 10 ft pole. note in the description that the data rate will be adjusted if electricity is used. and note the operating humidity range. if you dont have ac, it might not work during rain or fog in the summer.
running cable inside your house is cheap, and very reliable. no drops in data transfer speed whenever someone turns on a light, much less a hairdryer.

hmm...

I may have to go get one of those. Maybe somebody in my neighborhood is using that for their cable modem.

Then I would have a cable connection again.

It should work as long as my good neighbor is on the same side of the transformer as I am.

I wouldn't say hackable.

If I'm on the same wire as you, and you are supplying a router that gives out IP addresses, then I'm good to go.
