Hello everyone,
New member here, I'm trying to re-build my PC and have decided to go for an AMD ATHLON-XP2100+ 266 FSB processor but am unsure which Motherboard is the best to get to support this processor. Anybody help and guide me to a motherboard which would support this?
Thanx
Matt

I have an epox 8kta3 and love it supports all amd chips from duron to athlon to the athlon xp's.. with onboard raid agp slot.. 4 usb ports.. 5 pci's and 1 ISA go to epox.com and look at them.. and go to pricewatch.com to find one at a good price..
one reason I really like this board is that I was unable to flash the BIOS with the latest info.. dropped them an e-mail.. and had a new bios chip in less than a week.. good customer service always something to look for..

I have an Asus A7V 333. Best Asus I have owned yet.
It has 6.1 sound on board (disabled), RAID, Firewire (1 port), USB 2 (4 ports), USB 1.1 (2 ports = 2 more ports on the motherboard made to hook up to a front USB enabled case or buy another bracket) 5 PCI, 1 AGP, 3 333DDR RAM sockets. Lots of room around the CPU for large heatsinks.
I like how it has jumpers for everything. I still hold truck to being able to turn things off via hardware as opposed to the BIOS that can be finicky at times. It is a good overclocker if your into that sort of stuff. Rock stable.
And most importantly..it has hardware temperature shut off. You see, AMD XP CPUs have a built in temperature sensor. This motherboard is capable of reading this (you get much more accurate temperature readings then the built in on found under the CPU (this board doesn't have one). There is a feature that if the CPU goes over a certain temperature, it shuts off your computer..saving your CPU. I hear this will be a standard feature on all new AMD motherboards..so look for this important feature. It isn't fool proof, but it will save your bacon if the heatsink fan ever dies on you.
The following link is a good one because it breaks down the various AMD motherboards into their chipsets, and then for each motherboard, you will find many reviews culled from the web.
