concering the play of the game

motherboard is an iwill vd133 and video card is a pny verto ti4400 128ddr ram
also running on a p3 500 with 384 mb ram and a 20+ speed cdrom with a 15 gig hard drive that is 5500 or better

i just dont see why im having problems

when i play wc3 i experience game lag both on single player and b.net. The frame rates appear to drop. The more things that are going on in the game ie. spells, battles the slower and more laggy the game gets. My system meets and exceeds the minium req. of wc3. I was told by CompUSA that it probably was a sound issue and that if i were to copy wc3's sound file from the cd to my harddrive the problem would more than likely go away. I was wondering what your take was on my problem and if that suggestion sounds good what would be the file i need to copy over to my harddrive. I greatly apprieate you taking your time to help me.

Sencerily
Rylan Knuttgen

PS i am running on a cable modem too. thank you

maybe your sound card is to blame, try turning off positional audio, sorry if i spelled it wrong, but u should find it ez enough, and try during down settings from 800x600x32 to 800x600x16 or even lower, and mayb turn texture quality down and animation quality, and last and for most, make sure drivers are updated

Posted by: KnuttgenRC

i have undated all my drivers and i have a good system so i cant explain it also i just tried turning off all sound like you said and it didnt do anything to help ill try the lowering of resoulution i apprieate your help

Posted by: -EG-raynor

maybe u could try 3d benchmark to c if ur system holds up with that. 3d benchmark 2001 SE
i only got a score of 1000 on it, and W3 runs good for me

Posted by: KnuttgenRC

what is 3d benchmard and how do i use it thanks again

Posted by: -EG-raynor

download it from the link i left, 1 of the mirrors, and it is pretty self explainitoryand itll tell u how ur comp handles pixel shading and the sort

What resolution and color depth are you playing the game at?
And what version of DirectX?

Posted by: KnuttgenRC

i just scored a 2963 on that 3d benchmark i am running wc3 on 1024*768*32bit i have a good system i dont know what sound card i have its just a basic one. the bench mark didnt test sound with the graphics. the sound might not be able to keep up with the game and therefor lagging the game but i can turn off all the sound and it still laggs so i dont think that is it but i have no clue i have wiped my system and reinstalled things but nothing that should influence the game. my resources before the game is run are above 90 % free and the game runs fine on other lower systems if you or a friend have any more thoughts i would apprieate it thanks

hmm, turn some stuff down, thats a minimal score for medium grahpic settings, with a few on high but runniong at 1024*768*32bit will definatly slow your gameplay down

Posted by: KnuttgenRC

thanks it is helping hasnt fixed the issue but helped thanks the thing is i just bought the pny ti4400 128ddr ram verto card 300 us dollars and im still having problems it just irriates me thanks though o what is a good score on that 3d bench mark

Posted by: -EG-raynor

well, im guessing the best score is probably 10000, but skyhn or any1 else that has a ge4 usually has a score of around 7000, but thats just a guess, maybe higher numbers

uhhh
no

I have a GF2 ultra, he has a GF4 4400
I run at 1600x1200x32 with everything on high, and I don't suffer those framerate problems.
My graphics board isn't near the board he has.

KnuttgenRC- sounds dumb, but try increasing your resolution a few notches if you can. Nvidia boards are notorious for performing like shit on lower resolutions.
But I'm inclined to think that maybe it's your processor, a lot of people with slower processors like yours have complained about the game lagging a lot, that might be your bottleneck.

Posted by: -EG-raynor

but his only got a 500mhz system spider, he may have a good graphics card, but the processor will slow him down, as showed by the bench mark test (benchmark may be slower for a number of reason, maybe not the processor)

I run at 1024x768x32k and I do not lag.

I have a GF3 and a 600mhz Processor, So i doubt that is his problem Raynor.
