System not even POSTing

I just got done building a system for myself, all new parts ordered online.
CPU is an AMD 2200 XP
Motherboard is an Abit KR7A-133R
Memory is 512MB of DDR PC2100 Crucial Ram
HDD is a Maxtor ATA 133 80GB
Video Card is an eVGA ti4600 Geforce 4 128MB
Sound Card is a Soundblaster Audigy Platinum
The problem that I am having is that my system will not even POST. Everything appears to be on, all the fans are spining, and the hard drive spins up, but I do not hear any POST beep or beeps, and the monitor does NOT get a signal.
I tried pulling the NIC out from a PCI slot, and it did boot, but it said that it had an unknown Processor type. I entered the bios to check it out, entered softmenu III, and attempted to set the processor manually, but found that there was not a high enough option for my processor, so I set the closest available speed with the 133 FSB. I then saved and exited.
Upon restart, it is doing the same thing it was doing before, and the monitor is still not getting any signal, it's like nothing changed. So I figured I probably messed up something in the BIOS. I removed the battery, and then reinserted it. I hoped that this would put the bios back to default, but no luck, no change. Then I tried clearing the CMOS with the jumper, again no luck. I tried putting the NIC back in, no help there. So I took the NIC back out again, and still no good.
My thinking is that the 2200 XP is new enough that I need to update the bios, however, I can't do a bios update if the system won't even boot. This is where I'm at now. Any help that anyone can offer is greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Try reseating the CPU+heatsink/fan, RAM and video card.
Remove everything except the mainboard, CPU, heatsink/fan, ram and video card, try booting up then.

It is very likely that this board will need a bios update to work with the 2200.
You should also go through the bios carfully and set it to defaults or auto settings like SPD so that it will look at the components and set it's self up.
It sounds like a settings are wrong and thats why it won't post.

something is very wrong. a brand new mobo should at least post, even if it recognizes the cpu at a lower speed. did you check all the jumper settings? you said you cleared the cmos, but check the other ones too. do as outlaw says and remove everything you dont need to boot.
but with the problems you gave, i wonder if you didnt receive or order the wrong mobo.

Thanks a lot, I will reply again with the results of what you've suggested later tonight once I get back from work.
