GTA3 problems

A friend of mine has GTA3 for the pc. The game installed fine and everything is just fine except that all the text in the menus and in the game is just blank squares. No text is readable. ANyone know if there is a patch to cure this?
He is running Win XP pro. Geforce 3 128mb. Athlon xp2000, 512 ddr. any ideas?

This is a well known problem wiht GTA3, XP, and Geforce cards.
Download the patch here and apply. It will fix the problem.
