Speaker Question.

I was just wondering if anyone could give me some insight on this. I have Creative Labs Inspire 5300 model.
Which are 5.1 speakers. I seem to have a problem where the center speaker doesn't play any sound. I was just wondering this is common. My friend has cambridge 5.1 speakers and his center speaker works (well plays sounds in games and such, as mine works just doesn't play anything). I just found this a tad odd.

Any info on this?

The center channel will only work on games or applications specifically designed to play in 5.1 surround ... otherwise, it'll just default to the 4.1 config ...

Your friend probably configured his speakers to ignore the 5.1 specification and use the center channel as a phantom left or right channel - which is not TRUE surround, especially if he uses it with games that were not really supposed to use 5.1 surround...

Depending on your soundcard model, you can probably toggle this in your sound options ... if you use SB Live or its newer siblings, access AudioHQ and choose Speakers...

Where is the best place to go about finding out if a game supports the surround sound? I do have a sound blaster live card.

Go to the support and/or "frequently asked questions" section of that game manufacturer's website for that game.
