How big is your hard drive on your main computer?

This poll asks you what the size of your hard drive(s) is in Gigabytes. If you have two or more hard drives (in RAID or as backup), then add the sizes up... and this poll only applies to the computer you are using to vote on this poll, if you have more than one computer in the house...

I've only got 86 gigs right now, and it's really getting cramped. I've been meaning to pick up a 120 or a 160 and replace my 40 with it. Haven't gotten around to it yet though.

boot drive is 9g scsi, contains only os, utilities, and proggies that wont run from the other drive.
data/program drive is 75g ide

I had 1.2 gigs no longer than 2 months ago. I lived with that amount of space for a year and never came close to filling it.

My hard drive has 30 gigs of space. My processor is 2 years old so that is pretty good, plus I don't really need all that much space, because I don't install all that many things.

I didn't add the 2 drrives in this thing together because my 80Gb Maxtor is going in a box with the mobo and proc that shipped earlier today. I'll finally have something that will test the limits of this video card!

I said a I had a 30 gig hard drive earlier, but actually I have to HDs with almost 30 gigs altogether. One Hard Drive has 25 gigs, and the other has 2.5. I think that's pretty stupid because what the heck would I use the 5 gig hard drive for?

2 40Gig Seagate Barracuda ATA IV's in a RAID 0 array.
I have a old IBM 75GXP 30Gig drive that is just sitting in a drive cage in my computer. No power to it. Probably will never be powered up again either.
So I didn't count it in my total.

I never knew about that actually, however the small drive is still no good for games and stuff, because you'd probably only get one or two in at the most.

Actually, larger drives are inherently faster, because the data is denser, and so it takes less time to move across the data, since it's packed closer in.

Well, the core idea of having your OS on a separate drive is sound. I try to keep my OS on a separate drive from where I install my programs, so that they aren't fighting for the read heads. Maybe I'm just imagining it, but I seem to get a snappier response overall because of it.

That's what I use my second drive for, my OS. Everything else goes on my big drive. The OS takes up most of the small drive anyway so I really wouldn't have a choice. I suppose it seems to make quite a bit of sense though.

i download live concerts, mostly pearl jam, in .shn format. .shn is a file compression like mp3 except there is no loss of quality, so that means the files are not much smaller than .wav files. which are very large files. so, that is why i'm getting the two 100 gig drives, so i can keep all of my shows on my computer instead of having to burn them to discs to make room for more shows.

no they are not scsi drives. they are western digital (ide) 100gb 7200rpm 8mb cache

see, most of them have a faster rpm, but none of them hold as much as the (2) i pruchased. the (2) drives i purchased should do fine for me. they should be fast enough for my needs and hold a hell of alot more info. than any of those scsi drives above.
i think the scsi drives are way too expensive, when considering for most anything i do, an ide 7200rpm will be plenty fast enough.

i already have an 80gig but its like.. 1.8gigs free
