hard disk pins

i got a question..what will happen to your hard disk if one of the pins(where the data cable and jumpers are attached to a sharp pointed ?) are broken?

I'm not sure I understand.

But if one of the pins on the 40 pin connector are broken off, such that the connection is not longer made to the cable, you are out of luck. This would be extremely difficult to fix even for a qualified technician.

Either your computer would not recognize your hard drive or your computer would insist there is no operating system available if this is a boot drive.
