posessed calculator

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I have this calculator that i use at school. It is a
TI-30X IIS. I used it in Geometry today and turned it on and it said in bold capital letters: SATAN. I used it in Germen two periods later, again it said SATAN.
I am very afraid of this calculator. Is Texas Instruments evil and is trying to convert people to go to Satanism? Should i keep using this calculator? Is this normal behavior for this type calculator?

be afraid of TI, be very afraid....

Posted by: The_Turks(ff7)

Posted by: Null Actor

The thought that some kid just grabbed it and programmed it while you weren't looking doesn't occur to you huh?

Surprise.

Time to dump that calculator!

Posted by: Chako

I wouldn't worry about it.......

.......unless it starts to talk to you.

Posted by: The_Turks(ff7)

it didnt come with an instructioons manual. it gets one of those fold out thing that tells you its functions. its not a graphing calculator its one of those 15 dolar ones. i read it too and it doesnt say anything about satan

Posted by: redwench

sigh. i meant clear the memory. but just take the battery out.

Posted by: The_Turks(ff7)

i dont really care that it says satan really, just as long as the calculator works, plus its solar powered. i assume since its solar powered it doesnt need batteries.

Posted by: Hackenslacker

Might be a display glitch when you turn it on.
How long does the text stay on the screen after you turn the calc on?

Posted by: Indira

Maybe someone at the calculator factory is having a little fun....

Posted by: Blackknight

Conspiracy.

Posted by: WD40

You're ok....

until it starts displaying your name...

along with Satan's.

Posted by: The_Turks(ff7)

it stays on the screen for about 5-10 seconds and then disappears, i press the "up" key and it says there isnt any thing to display that was on the calculator at all. it happened again yesterday... that makes 3 times

Posted by: Bobaroo

It is a Sign....

Posted by: Chako

....of bad design.

Posted by: Blackknight

And that rhymes.

Posted by: AltronHGX

LIEKa LANDMINE!!!1111111

Posted by: The_Turks(ff7)

ok stop the rhyming plz... it makes no sense at all.
well i really dont care about the satan thing but i would like to know why it says satan though.. its just so eerie.
is it saying that i am the anti-christ? well i dont go to church...sooo... but i believe in god but satanists believe in god too but they think god is evil...hmmmm

Posted by: Chako

Turks..you have nothing to worry about. It is only a calculator.

<----he knows

Posted by: Blackknight

Your avatar is poking away at oblivion.

Posted by: Chako

Bring that avatar a little closer.

lol

Posted by: Hackenslacker

Which is worse:
A calculator that says "5474N" on start up
-or-
An electronic adding machine that prints "60D" when you plug it in

Posted by: Chako

The electronic adding machine because it is pretentious.

Posted by: The_Turks(ff7)

my calculator doesnt say"5474N", it actuallyspells the word "SATAN" with real letters.

Posted by: Ghetto Blasta

OOOoooo Spooky!

Posted by: Hackenslacker

Which is worse:
A calculator which prints "SATAN" on its LCD
-or-
A calculator which prints "SATAN" in blood on your hands

Posted by: Shalome

Someone at the factory is playing a joke.

To clear all the memory settings and exorcise those demons, hold down ON and CLEAR at the same time.

I think you might want to sue TI for emotional distress.

Posted by: AngstMerchant

I'm not quite following how a standard LCD readout for a calculator could make the characters "T" or "N". Turks, could you bang out a illustration in Paint or something??

Personally, I believe the calculator's intentions are good and earnest and true but under it's hood is internal combustion power. . . .

Sure it can have letters.

10 points to whoever can name AngstMerchant's song lyric reference there.

Please respond to what I write, not what you read. . .

:edit: And I will respond to what I read, not the appropriate specifications, which are clearly denoted in the first post. Please note: This will make me look like a JACKASS!!

Posted by: The_Turks(ff7)

well the calculator has stopped printing "SATAN". Now when i leave it alone it starts inputing functions. i dunno what is weirder the SATAN or the function part. All i know is my calculator is screwed up badly. thank god when i am actually using it in geometry it doesnt go weird on me. I leave it alone and it thinks that i have pressed the cosign button and then that one "tan" button that i have no clue what the hell it means. It inputs a hell of a lot more then that but those are the ones that keep popping up. My question is should i get holy water and sprinkle it on the calculator? Or should i just wear a cross whenever i use it?

No and no. Dousing it with water is a bad idea. Less so, waving theological symbols at it. This cannot damage the calculator unless you pitch said symbols at it with full force. In that case..just as bad an idea as using water.

No, I recommend sending it back to the manufacturer. More then likely you have a lemon masquerading as a calculator.

Errr...ummmm....he was being sarcastic!

Posted by: Ghetto Blasta

I'd say you go for choice C. What you need is a old priest and a young priest.

Posted by: Chako

And I wasn't?

Posted by: Blackknight

No! coming from you it sounds like a suggestion.

You need to saturate the post with smilies.

Posted by: Chako

Amazing.

Note that Turks posting did not contain one smiley.

Blacknight..you must be in error.

Posted by: Ghetto Blasta

<insert dramatic music here>

Posted by: The_Turks(ff7)

alrighty now im just confused...

Posted by: WD40

Turks I think you need your avatar to be the confused smiley ( ) and your title to be "Confused Member"
