Need help with removing W32/Supova.e.worm

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

First let me give my specs:

Processor: Pentium III 733MHz

Memory: 128 Mb (130 508 Kb) DIMM1: 128 Mb(3DRAM)

Video Card: MSI MS-8807/8814 (Nvidia Vanta/Vanta LT): 800 x 600 - True Color (32 bit)

Sound Card: VIA AC'97 Audio Controller (WDM)

Operating System: Microsoft Windows ME U.S. English 4.90 (build 3000)

What happened I downloaded a cdkey generator on Kazaa, scanned it and said no virus, so a window popped up and said cannot open and all this other junk, so I clicked ok which triggered the virus, it was a trick.
I didn't know at the time that it was a virus. I started to notice when my computer started to crash when I shut it down and such so I thought I may have had a virus, and sure enough I had the W32/Supova.e.worm.
I started seeing Hello Kitty icons, I deleted them all though they were in my C:\Windows\Media folder. I still had the problem because in my C:\_RESTORE\Archive folder, 2398 folders were infected in it and I scanned them with this free Mcafee thing and it wouldn't clean them up. I have been researching how to remove it most of the day so now I have come to you guys after I asked the people at supportfreaks.com who told me to pay them $60 for helping me remove it, as you can see I refused to pay. So can someone please help me remove it?

More information to this virus can be found in this link http://vil.mcafee.com/dispVirus.asp?virus_k=99594

Off topic: This banana is one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

This is what you get for downloading a CD-Key generator in the first place.

I ereally shouldn't even help you, but I'm in a good mood right now, soooo:

Agreed. hacking is something we do not tolerate. You more or less asked for that virus. Hopefully in the future, you will be more aware that those who seek trouble..generally find it.

however, take a look here if you haven't already. It gives a good outlay of the files infected etc.. and some tips on removal.

Having a problem with the housecall virus scanner, active update pops up there and it stays at 95% and after a while it says can't update, what's wrong with it?

What browser are you using to access the housecall site? I suggest not using the AOL browser and just use the regular Internet Explorer browser, and make sure it accepts cookies and can run active scripts remotely.

If the online virus scanner won't work for your connection, I suggest you just purchase their antivirus scanner ... it's a pretty good product to begin with, and cheaper than the other big AV software.
