is it really true that you might get or received viruses while using kazaa?i did not download kazaa yet..but what do you think guys?should i download it??plz give any suggestions..thnx

Posted by: Darky!

Yep.
And KaZaA Media Desktop also installs spyware on your computer.

Posted by: -EG-raynor

are you serious!?!

Posted by: Chako

Either that is sarcasm...or you should pay more attention to your own signature.

Posted by: Bishlopim

If you do download it I suggest getting Ad-Aware to get rid of the spyware.

Posted by: BIgDeal

mm..so should i download it or not??are there any other good progrms than kazaa?

Posted by: Spork Lover

I have Kazaa... it does add spyware. It keeps a database of all of the things you search for. I scan all the files I DL from Kazaa before opening them. I also Have adaware. You have to run Ad Aware after you start, or close the program, each time you start the program it just adds the spyware back that you delete. Oh yeah, and dont delete the .dll that ad aware finds, or the program wont run with out reinstalling.

Im pretty careful with what I do with Kazaa. I havent had a problem with it yet.

My thoughts on Kazaa:

Better not keep a time bomb in the house unless you know how to diffuse it

WinMX
Morpheus

Or check this comparison chart and decide which one(s) to try:

Definitely get WinMX. No Spyware. No Viruses(not unless you download executables of course). No Ads. Fast Downloads(allows multiple connections) and a Ton of 320kbps MP3's.

Morpheus is ok, but very similar to kazaa. Adware, Spyware and High risk of Viruses.

KaZaA Lite connects to the KaZaA network, hell, it even has the exact same layout.

Its KaZaA, with no ads, and no spyware.

Still vulnurable to the Kazaa Viruses though

Posted by: Darky!

Common sence.
Its the only anti-virus you'll ever need.

Exept on sundays.

Posted by: -EG-raynor

anything i ever dled on Morpheus was a virus its got my vote for worst p2p program, or shareing program period

Eh...maybe you dont know, but you can get a virus from downloading ANY filetype on kazaa. Remember all those news stories that kept coming out every other day a while back about the Kazaa viruses and the programs vulnerabilities?

That was why I quit using it. I dont want viruses from downloading MP3's.

Posted by: Darky!

Yeah. Exept common sence normally implies downloading from trusted sources only, SKYHN.

Posted by: BIgDeal

how bout imesh?is it a good program to download mp3??...but whats the best sftware now to download mp3??

i miss audiogalaxy..

Re-read the thread. WinMx was already suggested. I like WinMx also.

Actually found 2 doors things that I didnt have

:edit:

hmmm, none of my downloads on Win MX are working.

Everything is coming in at .01 k/s

Is there anything I can do to fix this? Im on broadband, so it really should be quicker.

And yes, I am only downloading from cable or higher.

thanks guys

Cable users aren't ideal to download from, since most have an extremely low upstream cap.

Try DSL and T1+ users.

If your getting slow users, right click on the file your downloading and select "Find more sources". That will get more sources to download from.

Also, on the connect option, pick the first one. The second option will use up extra CPU and Bandwidth to process searches for WinMX. You will get faster downloads with the first option.

DOWNLOAD KAZAA!? O_o
Heck no! Do NOT download that stupid program. Not only is it spyware, it commonly carries illegal programs and viruses. I would recommend Kazaa_lite, WinMX, or LimeWire. LimeWire is just like Kazaa, but not as many users, and it isn't spyware. It also gives you warnings when you are at risk of downloading a virus.

Posted by: SKYHN

Limewire has lots of adware. Its hard to get more than one source on limewire too because you are constantly changing hubs and what not.
