hey, i've been playing with a friend over LAN and we can play warcraft 2 and rainbow 6 fine but whenever we try to play starcraft brood war i create the game fine, but when he clicks local area network IPX it says cannot initialize network or something. any thoughts?

Are you both using the same version of Starcraft and/or Broodwar? You will need the same versions to play. The Blizzard download page is here.

Post back with your system specs and your friends specs if you're still having trouble. Include Operating systems as well.

A lot of users have problems with playing an IPX LAN game when one of the systems have Windows 2000 on it. I don't know the full details but if one of you is using Windows 2000, that's probably the cause.

same specs same op systems. different network cards tho will that coz it? same like protocol things and all that

Take a look at This page.

I'm guessing you have more than one protocol and IPX isn't configured properly, or you only have TCP/IP installed.

You also might check for updated network card drivers.

Post back and let us know if you get it working or not. http://216.97.27.218/forums/smile.gif
