NVidia has jumped from version 30.xx to 40.xx. Lots of interesting new additions. These drivers are for Windows XP and 2000. They are not WHQL certified.

Link is here

Update: Apparently these are official beta drivers. Thanks to Bobaroo330 for the tip.

Uh oh....Me smells some ATI Busters

Edit: Omg, what has Nvidia done to their drivers page on their website? Its like how Creative does their drivers page now. BOOOOOOO!

Posted by: SKYHN

Wow, people are raving about these on madonion. I hope some WinMe ones come very soon, I feel left out

One guy got a 1200 point increase on 3dmark. Most people are getting 700 to 800 increase. These are beta drivers that I wouldnt mind using.

I don't notice any improvement in Battlefield 1942 on my GeForce 4 MX

But the inverted desktop thingie is cool. For 2 seconds.

Did u guys try the hidden settings thing, all i get is blank boxes. o ya and i noticed a 200 point increase on my gf3ti200. I may just be paranoid but i think my monitor looks a bit grainier then usual...

Posted by: SKYHN

The hidden settings are for nforce mobo's unfortuneately.

Posted by: c0re

k, thanks for clearing that up

well, this may be silly of me because beta things ALWAYS go wrong for me, but i'm currently downloading these drivers - lets see if they rock like they say

Posted by: Daniel

I've downloaded, and am running these drivers now. I've got two things to report.

first is that I get the following error when I try to get to one of the settings pages:

http://gamevine.co.uk/images/nvidiaerror.jpg

and the second is that I can't really see any diffrence... I (so far) have only used Urban Terror to test it out with, and i'll admit that the AA *may* be better, but i'm not sure.

Oh well, either way, it's all progress

If you have a GF4 Ti, you should get a boost. Theres a few bugs with the drivers though in some games, such as Quake 3 Arena.

Posted by: Daniel

yup, i've got a nice little GeForce 4 Ti 4400.

Posted by: taco_fox

eh.. I get a bunch of rundll errors, so I just reinstalled the 30.82s.

Using a GeForce 2 GTS.

Posted by: SKYHN

If you get rundll errors, try disabling the nvcontrol panels in the system tray in msconfig.

The driver architecture for these drivers has many changes from previous det's and will be buggy for a while.

Posted by: taco_fox

I've tried disabling whatever is in startup. The errors go away, but there's still problems. I'm just going to wait till the final release.

Posted by: Daniel

Do we have a rough idea how long it's going to be before these drivers are going to be full?

Posted by: SKYHN

I would say at least 3 to 4 weeks, maybe 2. These beta drivers were released by Nvidia, which is a first for them. I dont think they even gave them to any of their manufacturers because they werent leaked.

Posted by: Daniel

I personally gave up on the 40.XX drivers and have gone back down too the 30.XX ones insted (which is still an improvment as I was using 29.?? before )
