Open Tech Support has always upheld its status as a non-profit support site.
This means the site exists not for the purpose of making money or earning
profit, but to provide genuine technical support and a place where high-tech and
non-tech discussions can take place. It is a place for learning and helping, as
well as an avenue for intellectual conversations.
But being a non-profit organization has its drawbacks - money is needed to
keep the site up.
Open Tech Support has always continued with its policy to incorporate
unobtrusive advertisements that "may" earn the few nickels and dimes
needed to finance the site. Unfortunately, the placing of advertisements has
always been against the site's credo. However, it has become necessary to do so
because of the rising cost of maintaining a site that is slowly becoming
popular.
Now, Open Tech Support has come to the conclusion to stop offering and
serving up majority of these advertisements. Besides,
even the nickels and dimes being earned (if ever) from these ads are not enough
to support the costs of maintenance.
Hence we have posted donation buttons in their place, courtesy of PayPal.
This way, the people who have enjoyed using the site will have the opportunity
to contribute to its continued existence, and have the right to say "I
helped keep that site stay online."
(And of course, that little fuzzy feeling that you have done the right thing)
You can donate any amount, from a dollar to twenty-five dollars. It's all up
to you. Whatever you can give to keep Open Tech Support online will be very much
appreciated by both the site staff, and all the people who continue to find this
site for their tech problems and more. Even a one-dollar donation will be like a
million dollars to us and everyone who visits the site.
The buttons are on the right, and you can choose how much you would like to
donate. Open Tech Support will be grateful for any amount. Again, this is your
choice, and we are already happy that you visit our site regularly. But we will
be happier if you can help out the site by donating your spare change for a good
cause ;)
Thank you for visiting the site, and for giving us this opportunity.
